Self Portrait

The self portrait assignment was one of the last assignments that I had worked on, in digital arts class and I had a great time working on it. I intentionality approached this assignment with low expectations and had purposely left this assignment last on my list to do, because this assignment had a low appeal toward me. I had started this assignment with no idea of what to do and had just went along with it. As I continued working on this assignment, the more I worked on it, the more interested I had becomed, because I had basicly inserted things that I enjoy or what I think represents me, and majority of the things I did was based on my past work. This was one of the most enjoyable assignments that I had ever worked on, because I got to incorporate anything, that represents myself, used many familiar tools and techniques on Photoshop, to enhance this assignment, and I got to add many old  and abandoned drawings in this assignment.

Imaged used for this assignment:

This is the first image that I had used for this assignment. I decided to use a image of a disc because it represents my love an obsession collecting DVD and Blu-ray.

I decided to use this image of an mountain, after coming up with an idea of incorporating my self on top of a mountain. This image of a mountain represent myself, because just like my determination of improving my drawings, the journey of improving my drawing is like trying to climb a mountain, the more I climb, the closer I am to my goal.

The images above are pictures from my favourite movies(excluding the middle) Rock & Rule, and various Disney Movies. The second image above is an picture of myself in side ways. Those three images were then interpreted in to an film strip format for this assignment.

For this assignment, I had included several artwork of my own, and had inserted it in many ways:

This image above, is an painting of Rapunzel, from the movie tangled, I decided to include this image, because tangled is one of my favourite movie, and this is one of my favourite preproduction artworks for tangled.

I had used all of those images above, and had joined it together as a film strip.

These are the images of myself, that I had used for this assignment. I had actually took these picture first before starting anything else.

Inspiration for this picture, had came from an idea of putting myself on top of an mountain holding a giant pencil.

This is an side-view image of myself.

This is a picture of myself, I took this picture, because there weren't many images of self, so I decided to take this image so it would balance and fill in the empty remaining space.

This is an image of myself facing the sky.

After taking the pictures, I had imported the images in Photoshop, and had removed myself from the picture, using the the magic wand and eraser tool. Images below are examples of the process of removing myself out of the picture and adding a giant pencil to it:

Original image

outlined myself using the erasing tool

Used the magic wand to to eliminate the rest of the background

I used this image of a pencil, I found on Google.

I opened this image on Photoshop, and had erased the unnecessary white spaces using the erase tool.

I then positioned the pencil toward the hand.

Erased a small part of the pencil, to make it seem like I am looking at it.

Other Images Used:

Image of the CN Tower, which represents my current place i am in

This is an image of Disney land, my ideal vacation

This is a image of a map of Canada, that I had made in Photoshop.

The images below are sketches that I had made, for the agenda assignment. I had decided to use these sketches for this assignment, because I wanted to insert more artworks to this assignment, and also to fill in  remaining spaces in the left and right corner of the project.

In conclusion, this assignment was one of the most enjoyable assignment that I had done, in the digital art class, although I had started this assignment with low exceptions, I had managed to finished this assignment with great pride and enjoyment. The challenges I had faced with this assignment, were starting  the assignment, because I didn't know what to, or what my plans were for this assignment at the beginning, but I had eventually got over it, and overcame it by adding one picture at a time. What I enjoyed most about this assignment was adding my previous artwork, and incorporating a film-strip in this assignment. I enjoyed making the film strip, because it was one of the most challenging thing in this assignment, because I had to position the images to be in the exact position of the film-strip.  Over all this assignment was one of the most enjoyable assignment, I had ever worked on because, I got to added many things I enjoy or like that represents myself, I got to use many skills and tools I had learned on this assignment, and privilege to revisit my old assignments and managed to incorporate it in this assignment. I got to a lot of creative on this,
