Movie Poster Assignment: Rush Hour 3

This assignment was one of the most challenging and also the most fun assignment that was given yet, in my digital Art class. The purpose of this assignment was to take an existing movie poster, and then recreate it from scratch. The poster also has to include at least 2-3 people from the class; for this assignment I decided to use myself and Nicholas. The movie poster I had used for this assignment was Rush Hour 3, because this poster had filled in all the following requirements that I needed, and that it wasn’t that difficult to do.

Original Poster:

Edited Poster:

This poster was really difficult to incorporate, but in the same time it was very fun, because this assignment had required me to think for solutions, I needed when I had encountered problem.

Process:

1. Selecting a poster: I picked this poster, because this poster had fit the requirements. one of the reqiure ments was that the poster must include at least an asian.

2. Cropping the characters out:

After picking the poster, I had open the poster up on photoshop, and had cut out the figures of Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker, and had moved the figures on another photoshop file (shown above)

3.Taking the pictures:

I had asked Nicholas to be on my poster because he had fit the right description of Chris Tucker.

This picture is the cut out image of Nicholas, imitating Chris Tucker.
This image was very eay to cut because the image was in good quality, and the background does not Interfere with the background.

This is a picture of myself. As you can see I'm trying to position myself, like Jackie Chan.

This is an unused picture, of myself for this assignment. I really liked this picture, and had wanted to use this picture for this assignment, but I eventually decided to not use this picture, because of the weird lighting from the window.

This an cut out image of the photo I took for the poster.

Putting it Together

   4.Title:

Going back to the main file of photoshop I decided to insert the title of the poster. First thing I did was opening up a new layer and inserting the picture of the logo.

This is the logo of the poster that I am going to use for my poster. The only problem I have with this, was that Chris Tuckers hand is blocking the top of the logo.

Solution:

What I did was that, I went online and had found another poster of the same movie and had used this logo together with the current one I picked.

I had opened up the first logo, and had cut out the logo, on photoshop. In the picture on the left, you can see that I am removing the "Hour" out of the logo. I am removing this out, because, Chris  Tuckers hand was interfering with it.

This is the logo that was cut out of, from the other poster I used to replace the other "Hour" this logo would replace the other "hour"

This is the Final product of the logos, when it was both combined.

The image on the right, is when the logo was added on the cut out background layer.

Image of Nicholas being added in photoshop as an layer.

Image  of  myself being added in photoshop. This was one of the most challenging process of the whole assignment, because I had to replace the remaining spaces that was not completely filled up by my picture. In order to fill up the blank spaces, I had used the stamp tool to replace the remaining spaces.

The most challenging, thing of this assignment was replacing the remaining of the background, that was not completely filled up. Replacing the remaining spaces was really difficult, because I had to match the exact shape and color of the background, and I have to blend it right in. To replace the missing spaces, I had used the stamp tool to replace the missing space, because the shape was really similar, and it was a faster process, so I could move on to different task on my poster. One problem I had with the poster was using a picture of my self, because the process of using my own image was really awkward, and the photo quality of my picture was not the best. What I like about the outcome of the poster was the outcome of Nicholas, because nick looks like he belongs in the picture, and he had fitted the role of Chris tucker; In conclusion this was a very Fun yet difficult assignment, because we got to take any poster, that we liked and had replaced the characters with ourselves and we also used many tools that we learned and had used them to help enhance the poster.
