First Digital Art Assignment

Restoration:

Four Man Group

Our First assignment for my Digital art class was to restore or fix an old damaged picture, using a program called Photoshop.
Using a tool called the clone stamp, I had slowly repaired this picture on Photoshop by using this tool to clone undamaged parts and replacing it with the undamaged parts.

The first picture that I was told to repair was the picture of four men.

When I first saw this picture, my first reason was how could I fix this picture? Do I paint over the damaged area with the paint brush? Or do I replace the damaged area with similar colors of the image. The solution toward this problem was to use the clone stamp and select the most resembling undamaged area and replace it with it.

The final outcome of this picture is very great because this was my first attempt at using a clone stamp to restore a picture, and the final outcome was very rewarding because the final picture looked liked it was never damaged.

One of my dislikes of this assignment was restoring the men’s faces and clothes. I dislike restoring it, because there are not many undamaged areas that matches several damaged skin parts, and that it is hard finding several clothes parts that matches the damaged clothes parts, for example shadows of the pants or the sleeves of the shirt

In conclusion this assignment was one of the most different and interesting assignment I had ever done, from using the stamp clone tool to fix the clouds to using other similar patterns to replace a damaged area, this assignment is a very new and great learning experience.
